What is a Speech Pathologist?

A Speech Pathologist is a university trained professional who is qualified to assess, diagnose and treat a range of communication and swallowing difficulties. This can include problems with spoken language, speech, voice, stuttering, social interactions, reading, writing and swallowing.

When should I contact a Speech Pathologist?

There's evidence that early intervention is important and better than the 'wait and see' approach. If you have any concerns about your child's communication, literacy or swallowing skills at any age, it is recommended you contact us to discuss further. We are happy to talk on the phone or via email and answer any questions you might have.

Do I need a referral?

No, parents and clients are able to self-refer. Referrals are often initiated by medical professionals or teachers, which is welcomed but not necessary.
